One of the easiest ways you can keep your smile healthy and thriving is by visiting Dr. Tad Morgan for routine dental checkups and cleanings. You’ll feel relaxed from the moment you step foot in our office, and you’ll leave your appointments with a clean set of teeth. Dr. Morgan wants all of his patients to feel confident when it comes to their oral health, which is why he has outlined what you can look forward to when you come in for a regular visit. During the first part of your appointment, one of our experienced hygienists will carefully clean your teeth, removing plaque and tartar that you couldn’t get to at home. They will also floss your teeth thoroughly to clean away any lingering plaque. After, they will polish your teeth so you can leave our office with a dazzling and fresh smile. Lastly, if you have any questions, they can give you tips for better at-home hygiene.
During your dental checkup, you may get X-Rays depending on your last visit, so Dr. Morgan can get a closer look at your smile. We will carefully examine your mouth, checking for any issues like infection or decay. He will also measure the height of your gums, keeping a careful watch to catch gum disease early on if it does occur. Dr. Morgan will also perform an oral cancer screening. This examination takes just a few minutes! He will check your mouth, gums, tongue, throat, lips, face, and neck for any inconsistencies or irregularities. He may also feel the lymph nodes around your jaw to ensure there aren’t any lumps or bumps. A regular dental checkup is the easiest way to know that you’re healthy and cancer-free!
The American Dental Association recommends that everyone attends regular dental visits at least twice a year. That’s because these appointments give Dr. Morgan an opportunity to prevent and detect oral health issues before they get more extensive and expensive. Plus, with an oral cancer screening as one of the integral parts of a checkup, these visits could be potentially lifesaving. If you haven’t seen a dentist in the last 6 months, don’t hesitate to contact our office to ensure that your dental hygiene stays on track.
Besides attending biannual checkups and cleanings, your at-home routine is the most important part of keeping your smile healthy. Make sure that you’re brushing twice a day for 2 minutes each session as well as flossing to remove plaque and food debris from in between your teeth. Additionally, you can use a nonalcoholic mouthwash to clean areas that your brush and floss couldn’t reach. Lastly, wear a mouthguard during physical activity or sports to protect your smile from injury.
